The Healthcare Compliance Analyst supports regulatory compliance efforts across Bronson Healthcare Group. This role oversees compliance related to physician billing, documentation, and coding practices, as well as hospital department billing processes.
Working closely with the Corporate Compliance Officer and organizational leadership, the Compliance Analyst helps implement, monitor, and enforce compliance initiatives to ensure adherence to applicable healthcare laws and billing regulations.
This position also provides education, auditing, and guidance to physicians, clinical departments, and administrative teams to support accurate documentation, coding integrity, and regulatory compliance.
Work Location: Hybrid position requiring onsite presence in Kalamazoo, Michigan with remote work flexibility.
Required
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
2–3 years of healthcare coding experience
Preferred
Clinic or physician practice experience
Certification
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred
Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire if not already held
Conduct audits of physician and hospital billing, documentation, and coding practices
Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations related to healthcare billing
Identify potential compliance risks and recommend corrective actions
Monitor compliance initiatives and ensure implementation of approved recommendations
Support Bronson Healthcare Group’s Corporate Compliance Program
Participate in regulatory monitoring and internal compliance initiatives
Review compliance with applicable healthcare laws, regulations, and billing requirements
Participate in the OIG Audit Plan by reviewing and auditing identified risk areas
Provide training and education to physicians and hospital departments regarding documentation, coding, and billing compliance
Communicate complex regulatory information in clear, understandable terms
Serve as a resource for staff regarding coding and billing compliance questions
Work closely with the Corporate Compliance Officer
Participate as an active member of the Billing Compliance Committee
Respond to questions, concerns, or reports of potential compliance issues
Collaborate with internal departments and external auditors as needed
Assist with third-party audits involving organizations such as:
Medicare
Medicaid
BlueCross/BlueShield
MPRO
Provide documentation and support during regulatory or payer reviews
Extensive knowledge of healthcare coding and billing practices
Strong analytical and auditing skills
Ability to interpret complex healthcare regulations
Excellent organizational and project management skills
Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
Ability to present complex regulatory topics in clear, understandable language
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
Position involves significant computer work (approximately 70–90% of the workday)
Requires sustained attention to detail and concentration
Occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting of light objects may be required
