Shift:  Night

Working Hours:  6 pm to 6:30 am. Microbiology/Molecular

Summary:

Medical Technologists provide information for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease by conducting medical laboratory tests, procedures, and analyses with little or no supervision. The Medical Technologist's job includes preparing the samples for examination, using automated equipment and specialized instrumentation, performing numerous complicated tests simultaneously and accurately interpreting the results in a timely manner in order to enable the clinician to utilize the data when making treatment decisions. The job requires multitasking and quick decision making skills. Position requires good judgement and performance under pressure. May be called upon to be Tech in Charge.

Other information:

 

  1. Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology from an accredited institution. Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Physics or Biology will be considered and are at the discretion of the hiring manager at the time of application or promotion.
  2. Registry for Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP or equivalent) preferred, must be registry eligible.
  3. Completes training in at least two rotations within the first six months of employment as required per hospital. 
  4. Possess language, math and reasoning skills which allow for the analysis, interpretation and valid conclusion to be made during data collection and during mechanical or scientific procedures.
  5. Must possess good communication skills with the public and other hospital staff. 
  6. Possesses the desired attitude and knowledge for other duties as assigned. 

 

This job will be authorized 72.00 hours bi-weekly.
